How free do you feel, really?
Plenty of us feel stuck even when life looks fine on paper. Freewarding maps your freedom across seven areas of life, so you can see what's holding you back and what to change first.
Private by design. No streaks. No tracking of your bank, phone or screen time.
Feeling in control of your life is one of the strongest predictors of being happy with it.
36,000+ people. 33 countries.
Strongest predictor in a 2025 cross-national study, among the variables it examined.
Still holds after accounting for mood and other basic needs (2026 study).
Feeling stuck doesn't always have an obvious cause
Even if you do all the ‘right’ things on paper, something can still feel off.
- Maybe you earn well but have no time to enjoy it.
- Maybe you have time for yourself but a body that won't cooperate.
- Maybe your social life is full but you can't say no to people.
Most tools look at one slice of life: your money, your fitness, your mood. But freedom doesn't live in one place. A bigger salary won't fix a calendar you don't control. A free afternoon won't help if you're too burnt out to enjoy it.
Researchers call it autonomy. We call it freedom.
It's the sense that your life is yours to direct. We define it simply: the capacity, opportunity and agency to live by your own values.
Can I?
Your money, health, skills, time and energy.
Does my life let me?
Your relationships, where you live, how you work.
Do I feel free to choose?
The fear, guilt, people-pleasing, algorithms and expectations that shape your choices before you notice.
That last one is the part almost nobody measures. It's often where we're most stuck.
Seven kinds of freedom, one map
Time
How much of it belongs to you?
Financial
Is money stress running the show?
Mental
How much of your attention is your own, and how much is served to you by a feed?
Physical
Can your body take you where you want to go?
Emotional
Can you freely feel the full range of human emotions?
Social
Can you choose the people you do life with, and set boundaries with them?
Authentic
Are you living by your own values, or someone else's expectations?
You can be strong in a few areas and still feel stuck overall. That's why the map shows them together.
Three steps. About ten minutes.
Get my Freedom Map1. Say what freedom means to you
Freedom means different things in different seasons. Rank what you want to protect or build first. There are no universal targets and no 'right' answer.
2. Take the check-in, see your map
Answer honest questions about each area of your life. Your answers stay private. Then see where you feel most free, where you're growing, and where you feel most constrained. It's often not what you expected.
3. Run a Freedom Experiment
Choose a small change to try for a month. A week without the news. One honest conversation. Then check your map and see what moved.
What your map might look like
- Strongest: Social and Financial.
- Growing: Physical, Mental and Authentic.
- Most constrained: Time and Emotional.
There's no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ score here. It's a picture of where you are today, so you can choose where to go next.
Not another thing to optimise
An app that stresses you out about your freedom would be a bad joke. So Freewarding has no streaks, no guilt, no ‘you failed’, and no pressure to hit someone else's targets.
If a number dips, it's information, not a verdict. You observe, you choose, you experiment, you reflect. You stay in charge.
Private by design
- Your own words are encrypted and never sent to analytics.
- No bank, phone or screen time connections.
- Export everything or delete everything, any time.
What the research says
Here's the research behind the map. The idea behind Freewarding isn't new. It's just rarely made practical.
36,000+ people. 33 countries.
A European study linked perceived autonomy to life satisfaction, alongside health, friendship, financial security and leisure.
The strongest predictor in its study.
A 2025 cross-national study found autonomy was the strongest individual-level predictor of life satisfaction among the variables it examined.
It holds up.
A 2026 study found autonomy still uniquely predicted life satisfaction after accounting for mood and other basic psychological needs.
Freewarding turns that research into something you can see and act on.
The seven freedoms are Freewarding's own framework. It's a tool for self-reflection, not a clinical test.

Frequently asked questions
Is this just about money?
Definitely not. Money matters, but it's one of seven areas. Some people are financially secure and still feel stuck, and some people on modest incomes feel very free.
What if I don't feel I have much freedom right now?
That's a common starting point, and it's exactly what the map is for. It shows you where there's room to move, however small.
How long does it take?
About ten minutes for your first map. After that, a suggested check-in each month to see what's changed and set new experiments.
What does it cost?
Your first map is free, with no card needed. The whole map, with monthly re-checks and your map history, is £7 a month. See pricing
Do you track my data or activity?
No. Freewarding doesn't connect to your bank, phone or screen time. You share only what you choose to. Your own words are encrypted and never sent to analytics.
Is this a test, therapy, or a productivity app?
None of those. The seven freedoms are our own framework, a way of seeing your life clearly before trying small things. If something heavier is going on, a professional is the right place to start.
What if my score goes down?
Then you've learned something true. Life has seasons, and the map is there to help you notice them, not to grade you or expect perfection (which doesn't exist).
